Lumileds is celebrating a clean sweep of awards in the 2024 Auto Express Product Awards. For the second year running. RacingVision GT200 and Xperion 6000 Slim both retained their crowns as top Headlamp Bulb and Workshop Inspection Lamp, while both of the other products entered – the Philips Xenon XtremeVision gen2 headlamp bulb and Xperion 6000 UV Pillar workshop light – both received commendations in their categories.

This is the second consecutive year that the RacingVision GT200 has scooped the Headlamp of the Year award – last year it was H7 variants that were tested, and this year it is H4s – and the RVGT200 has also taken similar awards in Europe. When introduced in late 2020 it raised the bar as the first halogen light to be rated at up to +200%[1]brighter light than industry standard[1]

The optimised bulb design of the RacingVision GT200 provides higher luminance for a better view of the road ahead and, with its ultra-performance beam reaching a full 80 meters further than the minimum length[2], Philips RacingVision GT200 lets you see more of the road ahead.

It also allows those behind the wheel to spot potential hazards sooner, react faster and position their car more accurately on the road. All in all, this results in a safer and more satisfying driving experience. In addition, Diamond Precision quartz glass ensures more light output within the regulation limits. This guarantees a sharp cut-off line for the beam, so as not to dazzle oncoming drivers, as well as a brighter sweet spot to give more brightness where it counts. It also gives greater thermal shock resistance.

Likewise, Xenon X-tremeVision gen2 is made of high quality UV Quartz glass and is able to withstand severe thermal shock. Engineered using Philips Xenon technology for ultimate performance, it produces a longer beam and up to 150% more vision. X-tremeVision Gen2 bulbs help drivers to spot obstacles earlier, allowing them to react earlier.

Hot on the heals of taking Best Buy status in Auto Express’ test comes this accolade for the Philips Xperion 6000 Slim, as 2024 Inspection Lamp of the Year, while its larger sibling, the range-topping Xperion 6000 UV Pillar, was awarded highly prized Commended status.

Summing up the Philips Xperion 6000 Slim, Auto Express said, “A keen price completes a winning package that ticks just about all our boxes.”

The Xperion 6000 Slim features a wide 100° beam angle from its long slim lighting unit which rotates through 270°, allowing the operator almost unlimited vision, through even the narrowest of gaps. The 6000 Slim has three different outputs – like the other lights in the range – and, in the case of the Slim, it ranges from 100-500 lm, yet it still offers a long operating time of up to 9 hours – depending on the levels of light required. With two different magnets – one on the base and one on the rear – and a useful torch in the tip, but still light and easy to use, with its folding light blade, and an SRP of £36.50, the lamp is a brilliant all rounder

The Philips Xperion 6000 UV Pillar, in being awarded a Commendation, ran the 6000 Slim close. During the testing, with the performance of its 500-lumen light, its long battery life and its advanced features Auto Express had called the 6000 UV Pillar “Seriously good,” and, further commenting in the Awards, said “It might cost more than its rivals but it brings a fair bit more to the job.”

The Xperion 6000 UV Pillar is a multi-purpose work light with several powerful light sources. It boasts a premium LED movable main light, with three different outputs ranging from 100-500 lumen(lm) and a wide 100° beam angle; a high Colour Rendering Index (CRI) light and a unique UV light which allows leak detection. The 6000 UV Pillar has a long-lasting battery and allows the user to locate it with the “Find My Device” function, which comes as standard (the same function is also available as an option on the 6000 Slim).

“We are delighted that our products have not only proved themselves in tests to be the best currently available, but also that this has been ratified once again by the most highly respected Automotive Product Awards in the UK,” enthused Richard Armstrong, UK Country Manager for Lumileds, who hold the global license to manufacture, distribute and market Philips Automotive Products. “With Philips Automotive Lighting products such as these, you can always be sure of having the right equipment for the job!”
