The champagne drenched the top of the podium once again, as MAHA UK and David Drinkwater dominated another race weekend, to clinch the 750 Motor Club Hot Hatch Championship at Snetterton.

A MAHA UK entourage was in attendance to cheer on David from the grandstands, while Louis Tunmore, MAHA UK’s workshop equipment specialist, was on-hand as usual in the busy scrutineering garage with a MAHA dynamometer.

Since the 2015 season, 750 Motor Club has mandated the use of a selection of MAHA dynamometers for scrutineering purposes, due to their accuracy and repeatability across the UK.

Louis said: “As well as implementing regulations, either for ‘power to weight’, classification or outright power caps, 750 Motor Club also purchased a MAHA FPS 2700, to utilise the dynamometer at many events for ‘spot testing’ of competitors’ equipment, as well as trackside weighing facilities.”

MAHA UK’s relationship with David stretches back almost a decade; Louis, a self-obsessed motorsport fanatic, built some great cars, but he needed someone that could maximise the potential of it – step forward David, who immediately took MAHA UK to the top with wins and podiums, in a variety of different championships.

Louis explained: “A customer persuaded me that racing could be relatively inexpensive fun… so in 2011 and 2012, I built two separate cars and went racing, but I didn’t quite have the skill to unlock the speed of the car!

“David and I were introduced in 2012 and struck a rapport; he bought a yellow E36 318ti, and so began the start of a successful partnership. With the MAHA livery decorating several different cars over the years, he’s won both here in the UK and abroad, including the Nürburgring in Germany with an E46 BMW 330 and the Australian Bathurst 12-hour in a Porsche.

“We’re delighted that he’s won another title, demonstrating what’s possible with a fast car and talented race driver – the perfect combination!”

What does the future hold? Louis said he’s “got his thinking cap on”, but MAHA UK hopes the winning relationship between team and driver will continue for many years to come.

As for the MAHA UK supporters, some were treated to two laps of the Snetterton track, which certainly made an impression on the passengers! Suffice to say, none of the trio will fancy vying with David for the driver’s job next season!
