Performance Parts RFT (PP RFT) is delighted to announce that it has become UK distributor for Apex Springs.
The Surrey-based company is already well known as the UK importer of Koni Shock Absorbers, as well as being a distributor of Ferodo performance braking products and this new addition to PP RFT’s product offer beautifully complements its existing ranges.
Apex Suspension is a major manufacturer of coil springs, based in Holland. The company is a subsidiary of the Pewag Group, who are Europe’s largest manufacturer of Snow Chains. The renowned Dutch company has been manufacturing OE quality replacement and lowering springs since 1984, with all products being manufactured in Holland utilising OE quality steel. Apex springs are used by several of the world’s most renowned Shock Absorber producers as an intrinsic part of their suspension systems.
PP RFT’s MD, David Russell explains the thinking behind the bringing Apex into the company’s portfolio of brands. “Since we started Performance Parts RFT we have always felt that it would be a great move to have a spring supplier to sit alongside our Koni dampers. We recently found exactly the right opportunity with Dutch brand Apex.
After testing some sample sets, and liking the quality and results, we have taken up the opportunity to distribute the Apex brand in the UK.”
The quality of the finished Apex product is superb, with a high gloss bright Yellow powder coating for the performance lowering springs and a gloss black finish for Apex’s equally high-quality replacement products. In addition, Apex springs feature a rust protection coating that delivers results, in official salt spray tests, that are way above the industry standard. High quality, however, does not happen by accident and in the case of coil springs it starts with the raw material, which, with Apex, is the highest quality ChromeSilicium (CrSI) available. It already, therefore, has all the right properties needed for a top-quality spring – including tensile strength of 1.800-2.00N/mm2 – and, in fact, is the same steel as used by numerous OEM Vehicle manufacturers.
There are currently more than 300 references in the Apex Performance lowering spring catalogue, and Performance Parts RFT will keep the majority of these in stock at any one time. PP RFT is also working together with the product team at Apex to introduce new references that will be specific to the UK market – along with some discontinued part numbers, which will be re-introduced as there is a sales opportunity for them. PP RFT will also initially offer a small range of the replacement springs (in sets), which will be ideally suited to use in conjunction with Koni ACTIVE dampers.
“With our extensive in-house stock we can cover 90% of the UK market,” explains PP RFT’s General Manager, Trevor Leigh. “By combining Apex Springs and Koni Shock Absorbers we will be able to supply next day availability on almost 350 references. We believe Performance Parts RFT will become one of the largest suppliers of suspension kits in the UK.”
The first of RFT’s initial stock is already available at the company’s warehouse in Surry, with a significant number of further references due very soon, A full application and price list is available from Performance Parts RFT
PP RFT is interested in looking at how Koni and Apex products could enhance project vehicles covered by the media in the sector. Please contact Simon Maurice at Chicane with any project vehicles that might be suitable.
