Technicians can select from a new thermostat reference from First Line Ltd. when replacing the component on Ford Transit Mk8 2.0 TDCi 05/2016>07/2019, after a supersession carried out by Ford made changes to the design, with the later 08/2019 model component superseding the previous version.
The new replacement thermostat is equivalent to First Line reference FTK547. The main differences are that the 05/2016>07/2019 Thermostat has a three-bolt fixing and two sensors, whereas the later version from 08/2019 has one sensor and a two-bolt fixing.
Following the Ford modification, technicians are advised to now fit the First Line 08/2019> Thermostat FTK547, or the equivalent Borg & Beck version BBT547, to all applications from 05/2016>.
Nick Smith, Head of Product Management at First Line Ltd., said: “It’s important to understand the implications of vehicle manufacturer or original equipment manufacturer supersessions, not only to minimise confusion and return, but also so that technicians and factors alike understand where aftermarket components can satisfy a replacement, even when the new part looks different.”
Technicians working on Ford Transit thermostat replacements are also reminded that when installing the new part that there will be a spare loom connector, which due to the supersession is no longer required.
