Duckhams, the original British motor oil since 1899, enjoyed a successful first exhibition at Screwfix Live in Farnborough this September. In partnership with Holt Lloyd International Limited, Duckhams exhibited at the event to raise awareness of the much-loved engine oil brand’s new availability through Screwfix stores and Screwfix online, as part of Duckhams’ new Direct-to-Market Strategy.

Now in its 12th year, Screwfix Live 2025 brought thousands of tradespeople and consumers to Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre at the end of September. During the free, three-day event, visitors had the opportunity to see over 200 leading trade brands under one roof, featuring live demonstrations, hands-on experiences, and the chance to explore the latest tools, products, and innovations.

The claw machine on the Duckhams and Holt stand proved to be highly popular, with visitors queuing around the exhibition hall to have their chance to grab a Duckhams duck before they were all gone. Visitors also had the opportunity to win a £50 Screwfix gift card in the free Duckhams Screwfix Live draw.

Duckhams CEO Mike Bewsey said, “We were delighted to exhibit at Screwfix Live for the first time this year. The show was incredibly well attended, with over 10,000 people coming through the doors on Saturday alone. It was great to see visitors queueing up around the hall to have their chance with our claw machine and win their very own Duckhams duck. Duckhams is a well-loved brand with so much heritage in the UK market. Thanks to our new partnership with Holt and Screwfix we’re opening up new market channels to make it even easier for trade customers and consumers to purchase Duckhams Oils and keep engines moving.”

Alexander Duckham established his oil company in 1899, and his entrepreneurial and pioneering spirit has been at the company’s heart ever since. Duckhams was responsible for developing revolutionary new process oils that controlled the build-up of carbon deposits in the 1920s and launched the first synchromesh gear oil in the 1930s. In 1951, Duckhams introduced Europe’s first multigrade oil, an innovation which transformed lubrication technology forever.

Earlier this year, Duckhams unveiled a new direct-to-market strategy for the UK and Ireland, backed by investment from successful entrepreneur and business leader Zuber Issa CBE. The company is rolling out new distributor partnerships for workshops and retail outlets, capitalising on the much-loved brand’s unique heritage and growth potential.

Duckhams delivers high-performance engine oils formulated to keep engines of all ages moving. Their passenger and commercial vehicle lubricants are available across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
