The Motor Ombudsman is the automotive dispute resolution body. Fully-impartial, it is the first ombudsman to be focused solely on the automotive sector, and self-regulates the UK’s motor industry through its comprehensive Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI)-approved Codes of Practice.
Thousands of businesses across the UK, which include vehicle manufacturers, warranty product providers, franchised car dealerships and independent garages, are accredited to one or more of the Codes. The Codes are a comprehensive set of operating guidelines which have been designed to allow businesses to operate to even higher standards and deliver exemplary customer service and workmanship. They also give consumers added protection, peace of mind and trust during the vehicle purchase and ownership experience. Furthermore, The Motor Ombudsman’s in-house Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service helps motorists and accredited businesses to resolve disputes without the need for often costly and stressful legal action.
All independent garages and franchised car dealerships who are signed up to The Motor Ombudsman’s Service and Repair and/or Vehicle Sales Codes are listed on the body’s popular online Garage Finder (TheMotorOmbudsman.org/garage-finder). Using the easy-to-navigate tool, vehicle owners can view the profile of a garage in their local area, read the latest feedback, request an estimate or make a booking.
