The Garage Magazine was a grateful guest of Gulf Oil International at the Aprilia All Stars day held at the Iconic Autodrome del Mugello.
Over 10,000 enthusiastic fans gathered for the inaugural edition of the Aprilia All Stars, which celebrated the greatness of the Italian marque past and present – including the launch of the new RSV4 1100.
The Gulf Sponsored factory Aprilia Gresini Moto GP team was pivotal to the weekend, with principal rider Andrea Iannone and official test rider Bradley Smith taking the 2019 RS-GP machines for demonstration laps and then on hand to unveil two special edition Gresini team Liveried versions of the RSV4 Superbike.
The new RSV4 1100 gets a 1078cc engine that promises a huge 217bhp at 13,200rpm and 90 pound-feet of torque. Accompanying the 1100 was the limited edition ‘X’ version which boasts a 225bhp engine with a weight of a mere 165kg. The RSV4 X bike is the first in the world to mount a gearbox with neutral below first gear and is also fitted with Brembo GP4-M5 callipers which is effectively a Moto GP brake calliper for the road.
Former Aprilia champions, Max Biaggi, Loris Capirossi, Manuel Poggiali, Alex Gramigni and Roberto Locatelli all took the bikes out on track to the delight of the masses of adoring Aprilia fans.
Max also completed a parade lap on his 1995 World Championship winning RS250.
